As we continue to grow and evolve our programs, this occasionally leads to adjustments to our re-certification process. Our current re-certification process is as follows.
Maintaining Certification
After being awarded certification, you have two years until you need to submit documentation to maintain certified status. As a graduate of the program. You will receive an annual survey where you can update us with your status of certification maintenance. We may also request an interview with you at any time as a way to validate your continued certification. The intention of these options is to demonstrate your high-level commitment to both your personal practice and development in teaching mindfulness.
Maintaining certification after the initial 2-year period will require you to choose one of these options annually:
- Attend a minimum 3-day mindfulness practice retreat (or 3 day-long retreats) annually with a report on your mindfulness teaching and personal practice. Attending the Mindful Schools Graduate Retreat recertifies you for 2 years.
- Attend a mindfulness in education multi-day conference, provide a write-up of your learnings and reflections in terms of what you’ll take back to your teaching and personal practice.
- Submit a new teaching video similar to the practicum process. This option requires you to discuss with Mindful Schools first in order to gain approval.
Changes to Certification Guidelines
Mindful Schools reserves the right to change and/or modify these Certification Guidelines at any time. This may include changes to the requirements for listing teachers on the Mindful Schools website and guidelines around maintaining Mindful Schools Certification.
End of Certification Terms
Mindful Schools reserves the right to terminate certification at its discretion if it deems that you no longer meet the standards of certification for any reason. If you have not furnished an update via our annual survey or communications during the allotted time per your practicum results letter stated requirements, we will terminate your directory listing on our website, but continue to reach out each year with our annual survey, in case you want to reinstate your certification with us.
